In the first stage, retanning, all the characteristics that the leather will have at the end of production are defined. From then on, each piece is meticulously crafted to become unique. The leather goes through dyeing, shining, drying and softening.

Preparation

Crust leather starts the process from tanned leather. At this point, the tanned leather is in a wet state, after the tanning process that turned it into Wet Blue.

Re-tanning

O couro passa pelo processo de recurtimento, adquire a cor, maciez e características desejadas com toda a excelência. O cuidado nesse processo é para que o tingimento alcance todo o material, atravessando toda a pele com intensidade da cor, homogeneidade e padronização. O tingimento na Durli Leathers confere ao couro Crust a coloração em toda a sua espessura, para se adequar a diferentes aplicações de acordo com as especificações mais exigentes de cada cliente.

Drying

A crucial stage in the process is the drying of the tanned leather. Controlled drying is carried out to remove most of the moisture, preparing the leather for the subsequent stages.

Finishing

Depending on the final application, Crust leather goes through various finishing stages, including softening, engraving, sanding, painting, polishing and other techniques, to achieve the desired texture, appearance and quality.

Inspection and Quality

Rigorous quality checks are carried out on Crust leathers to ensure compliance with the desired standards. Hides that have not yet reached these standards undergo additional processes for correction and adjustment, or are removed from the batch.

Logistics and Distribution

After the final inspection and quality approval, intelligent readers read the numerical codes marked on each leather in the formation of the pallets, making it possible to trace each piece. The Crust leathers are then carefully packed and prepared for distribution. Semi-finished leather is sold to manufacturers of leather products who wish to apply customized finishing processes to create final products, such as shoes, bags, belts, automotive coverings or furniture.

End-to-end transparency

Each pallet receives a QR Code with all the information about its composition, leather by leather, with details of the respective animals, the origin of the farm, the slaughterhouse, the processes in the tannery, with traceability from start to finish and data on socio-environmental compliance. The end customer has access to each leather's UniCode and Invoice number and can access all the information. This way they can identify the origin of the leather they have bought and the transparency of all our processes.
