Individual and Pioneering Leather Traceability

With over 60 years of experience, we operate on Durli Leathers with 10 LWG Gold certified industrial units. We use a pioneering system of individual leather traceability, monitoring each piece from its origin.

Geomonitoring for Social and Environmental Compliance

Since 2010, we have implemented a geomonitoring system, which monitors and checks compliance with socio-environmental criteria on a daily basis using satellite images by slaughterhouses suppliers and direct and indirect farms, guaranteeing the responsible sourcing of raw materials.

By combining the geomonitoring system with the traceability of the leather individually through a unique alphanumeric code marked leather by leather, we ensure that the end customer only buys leather from socially and environmentally legal areas.

Responsible Sourcing of Raw Materials

By following our Responsible Raw Material Purchasing Policy, we only purchase leather from areas that are socio-environmentally compliant.

We do NOT buy raw materials from suppliers involved in:

Deforestation
Invasion of Indigenous Lands
Protected Areas
Embargoed areas
Forced or Child Labor
Disrespect for animal welfare

Understand the Cycle of Full and Individual Leather Traceability

Our tracking system allows us to follow the raw material from its origin to the delivery of the final product to the customer and works in the following stages:

1. INDIVIDUAL RESPONSIBLE ORIGINATION

The animals receive, from the farm of birth, a unique identification through an earring and electronic bottom and are certified with the protocol of the Individual Traceability and Indirect Monitoring Program - PRIMI, created by NicePlanet and SBCert, guaranteeing the information of the farms with the unique individual registration of each animal, monitoring of all movements of certified animals between the farms, in addition to the socio-environmental compliance of the farms involved until the arrival of the certified animals at slaughterhouse.

2. SOCIAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL COMPLIANCE

The slaughterhouse supplier also carries out socio-environmental analyses of the certified direct and indirect farms, and only buys animals from farms that comply with the defined criteria. It delivers the green leather to Durli Leathers with an identification tag, which via a computer system contains all the documents attesting to the socio-environmentally compliant origin of the raw material (farm) and the characteristics of each animal, all in a virtual environment that uses blockchain technology, guaranteeing the credibility and integrity of all the information.

3. LEATHER TO LEATHER IDENTIFICATION

At Durli Leathers, each leather accompanied by its information receives a unique alphanumeric code made up of 8 characters laser-marked on the edges of the front of the leather for identification until the end of the production process.

4. ORIGIN, PRODUCTION AND COMPOSITION DATA FOR EACH PALLET

Smart readers read the codes marked on each leather that make up the pallets, generating a QR Code for each one, gathering all the information on its composition, leather by leather, with data on the respective animals, the origin of the farm, slaughterhouse, processes in the tannery, with traceability of the leather from start to finish and data on socio-environmental compliance.

5. END-TO-END TRANSPARENCY

The end customer has access to each leather's UniCode and Invoice number and can access all the information. This way they can identify the origin of the leather they have bought and the transparency of all our processes.

All this care and responsibility for social and environmental issues in our operations, in addition to all the guarantees of responsible sourcing of raw materials, adds value for our customers in the automotive, furniture, footwear and artifacts sectors, who will have the guarantee of marketing quality leathers produced with responsibility and socio-environmental compliance in markets such as Asia, Europe and the United States.

These are companies that will be able to stamp the merit of being socially and environmentally correct on their brands.

Transforming the Future: Leadership, Innovation and Sustainability in the Leather Industry

Leadership and Innovation

In this video, our directors, Volnei and Evandro Durli, explain how the innovative COTI and PRIMI initiatives will contribute to improvements in the promotion of deforestation-free leather and meat production chains.
In doing so, they reinforce our commitments to transparency, ethics and respect for the environment.

How it works - PRIMI Protocol

Our partners Jordan Timmo, director of Niceplanet, and Thiago Witzler, director of Sbcert, explain in detail how PRIME works, a pioneering system developed by the private sector to ensure that the animal is monitored at every stage of the operation until the products reach customers, in a complete leather traceability cycle.

Market Access

Giovani Cortez, head of the commercial department at Durli Leathers, Clécio Eggers, from FORMA Exportação de Couros, and Roberto Paulinelli, CEO of Frigorífico Rio Maria, talk about their expectations and access to the market with the guarantees of traceability of the leather from the indirect supplier.

This is undoubtedly an ambitious project that aims to bring significant improvements to the leather sector.

International collaboration

We are one step ahead, living the change the world needs! Rafael de Andrade, director of Green Level, and Fernanda Bock, sustainability coordinator at Arezzo&Co, talk about the transformative initiative of traceability of leather from indirect suppliers and the importance of collaboration between all the players in the leather production chain at an international and national level.
